Dream Interiors | Book Envy

Dream Interiors | Book Envy

This is a repost from my old craft blog. I loved it so much i wanted to share :)

Totally inspired by this lady and her bookshelf!! I cant believe she had the patience to rearrange her bookshelves like this.. it probably took her about 3 weeks to do. I really want this for my house when im old and have one purchased and no longer just renting... so i dont buy too much random furniture.

This is amazing...

A San Francisco artist was allowed to rearrage a guys bookshop as a project called

The project is called "There is Nothing Wrong in This Whole Wide World" and is based on a simple idea:

"Even though there is so much to be unhappy about in this world, we should try to create something amazing and beautiful and interesting despite all of the problems." Chris Cobb

Kitteh stuffie by cupcakes for clara! I was browsing on Flickr for random money boxes for no real reason at all lol and i found the kitteh made as a money box.. Its amazing.. i would love one. Id love to make one but i dont have the patience at all! If you click on the pictures it should bring you straight to this extremely talented ladies blog :) She has a lot of little illustrations, embroidered pieces and amazing little stuffies. Such an inspiration :) she was also published in a book with a wee tutorial on how to make a bear. Id love to find a wee money box one, i think theres just a wee cylinder to hold moneys.. could possibly be done with an old food tin - washed obviously. I just wouldnt be too sure how to get a reinforced base, or even cutting a hole in the bottom of the tin instead of removing the whole base.

Home Comforts | My Living Room Walls

Home Comforts | My Living Room

A few pictures of my living room walls and lampshade. Yesterday when I was feeling alright I raided all the photos, inspiration cards and postcards I had to update the wire. Previously i had been using the Ikea curtain clips that came with the curtain rail, but when the heating was turned on or anyone walked past the photos moved.. so i replaced them with the mini pegs.

This is a picture of the family clock I was dying to buy since we moved into this house, I have been meaning to photograph this properly FOREVER.. its  been well over a year and a half since I got the clock. Updated most of the photographs about 6 months after i bought the clock also. Was slightly slow at doing things!

This wall has one of my postcards in the white frame, my first 'this is for my house' buy - the blondie poster! And a dannielle thompson art print I got as a gift.

This is an orchid I bought over a week ago in B&Q. I really wanted one as theyre beautiful and fairly easy to look after.

This is my beautiful beaded lampshade I got for a bargain price of £12. Its a bit mis-shapen but i really love it.

Free Download | Expenses Pages | An Organized Life

An Organized Life | Free Download | Personal & Business Expenses Booklet

divided into the two groups - personal and business expenses and split into months! I decided it was about time i organised my finances properly - inspired by Leigh Ann being completely debt free.

I created this pdf - free for you to download, print and insert into a file.

Click on the image above to download. Feel free to import to iPhoto and create duplicate pages if you feel you spend a lot, PLEASE print double sided to save paper.

Im going to buy myself:

An A4 File

A-Z File dividers (pack of 20)

Card Stock

Dymo Labeller/Alphabets (already got)

Things to make the file pretty.

I will update the posts when I have my financial file completed. Hopefully it will be an inspiration to everyone and help them. Im buying A-Z (pack of 20) file dividers so i can use the first 12 for months of the year to include the booklet, bank statements and appropriate credit card statements (beginning in April - start of tax year). I can use the remaining 6 dividers to record my Debts, tax codes, Important bank details, Insurance information etc.

At the end of the year I will most likely use another file and other dividers to store finances from '2010' in one big pile. I can use tab stickers to keep everything separate. An attempt to keep it all compact! Im also looking forward to my indie biz class which creates a Receipt folder. An absolute must! Fingers crossed I keep up this determination to record all details :) Im hoping this will help me pay off my debts in an organize manner and start saving too!

A Week In The Life 2010 | Organising

Taking Part | A Week In The Life | Ali Edwards Jouralling Challenge

Ali's journalling challenge takes place April 19th - 25th. I dont think I have anything planned for that week so it might be very boring lol. Im looking forward to it though and taking lots of tips from her blog and articles.

(This following post is great to get yourself organised.. I think i will be taking note of this and organising myself in preparation for the 19th. I will post any pictures of me getting myself organised - journal, organising wallets etc)

This Post is great for organising and inspiring:

"weekend creative : documenting a week in your life

Weekendcreative
Next week, from Monday through Sunday, I will be documenting a week in my life with photos + words and I invite you to play along. (You could even begin today or tomorrow if you wanted - there is no reason it has to be Monday through Sunday vs. Saturday through Friday.)
This is a creative adventure. It requires little more than a camera and a willingness to pay attention and gather up stuff from your daily life.

Even if you have never scrapbooked before you can do this project.

This will be a pared down project from the one I have taught previously. Right now I am most interested in the photos and the words and that is where my focus will be throughout the week.

Some of you out there may be thinking: my life is boring or I do the same thing everyday or what story do I have to tell? As with many of the projects I have created, the preparation process is just as (and maybe more) important than the creative process of actually putting the album together. Most likely you will learn something about yourself over the course of this project. I learn something new every time.

Daily Tasks For The Week:
Take photos.
Commit to keeping your camera with you throughout the day. Capture everything. Capture things that may seem silly or dumb. Capture the normal. Capture little things. Capture your environment. Here's a couple questions I ask myself or I keep in mind as I am going about this project: what's my daily routine, where did I go, who did I see, what do I do, what does the inside of my home look like, where do I spend the most time, etc. Capture stuff that you use everyday: your computer, a coffee mug, a favorite pair of shoes, a book, etc. Make sure to take a photo of yourself each day. See the list of possible photos below.
Upload photos.
Take a bit of time each evening to upload your photos for the day. You can use this time to eliminate duplicate shots and if you are really on top of things you could print them out or upload them to your favorite developer to have them ready to create with the following week.

Designate a place for notes.
Have a notebook or a couple sheets of paper set aside to jot down notes, stories, things to remember about each day. Don't make this complicated. Don't run out and buy a new notebook. The back of some junk letters, the leftover pages in a journal you have always meant to get around to, etc. You simply need somewhere to write down notes over the course of the day.

Take notes. Once you set up something to write on, do the writing. What should you write? Thoughts you have during the day, things your kids or your boss or your partner say, things you notice (simple and profound), what you ate, etc. Go for the basics. These notes will be transferred into your album when the time comes. See more about recording the story under the category heading below.

Designate a place to store life-stuff. Part of the process is collecting bits and pieces of your life over the course of the week. For this I recommend setting up an envelope or folder for each day. You may use some of this stuff and you may not. I tend to keep things like receipts, handwritten notes, etc. These will be companions to your photos + words.

Possible Photos:
- think about the most basic things/the real life things that you see everyday: those things that are so much a part of what you do each day that they simply blend into the blur of images
- chores
- loves
- dishes
- food you cook
- food you eat
- driving to work
- driving your kids to school/kids at the bus stop
- computer
- what you do for work
- looking down at your shoes
- your front door
- thermometer/temperature outside
- gas prices
- the grocery store/your grocery cart/bags of groceries
- the mess
- piles of stuff
- the funny face your kid is making/funny things they are saying
- laundry
- your child's room, toys, favorite books, etc.
- document the imperfect normalness of your existence

CATEGORIES:

To prepare for my journaling in the past I have designated categories: food, gratitude, work, stuff, etc. You can totally implement something like this for yourself - it helps keep you focused on what you need to document in a written format - or you can be more free-flowing. This time around I am going for more free-flowing word documentation - capturing bits of my life in words rather than giving myself specifics - either way you go will be just fine. Just make sure you write something as you go along. It is way too hard to try to remember what the heck happened on a specific even a few days later.

A couple things to note:
(1) This is not a class. I do not have a finished project to show you or specific instructions to follow. I will be working alongside and adjusting and going with the flow from Monday through Sunday. It's a journey we can embark on together. One of the big reasons I am doing this on my blog is so that I will actually do the project. You are making me accountable. This project is worth all the effort you will put into it...but it does take work.
(2) This does not have to be a 12x12 album. It can be smaller or larger. You can include tons of stuff or just photos + words. Part of the process will be figuring out how to showcase your photos + stuff. One of the things I am excited about in relation to sharing this journey is the variety of different albums that will result. Part of what I will be thinking about as I go along next week is how I want to put the album together. I am envisioning a hybrid combination of paper and digital elements. Other than that I will be using things I have on hand here at home. I will post some ideas for supplies/formats for putting the album together on Monday or Tuesday next week.
(3) Take this one day at a time. If you take a ton of photos on Monday and only a couple on Tuesday - no big deal. Let's get rid of that pressure before we even begin."

A BIG THANK YOU!! To Fritzi & Ashley :)

A BIG THANK YOU TO ASHLEY & FRITZI MARIE!

I came home to my own house yesterday after a week staying with my parents to avoid the noise of building work going on here, so i could get a decent rest.. on the table was a big box and i got so excited.. it was allll of the above from my good swap buddy Ashley... a little suprise gift for spring! I absolutely loved all of it. I got the spring oreos, some sweets, some gum, an amazing book mark made from alcohol inks.. all colourful, the wee duck, beautifully coloured stacking boxes with lil suprise notes and a trackable dollar bill and some love elsie chip board buttons! It absolutely made my day. I had to shoot of course while i was opening lol. My house mate wanted me to hurry up so we could see what was inside. I was so happy :) thank you! AND then!!! There was another lil envelope from Fritzi Marie! And i thought woo! My badges! I had won her lil blog give away recently of the cutest four badges and I couldnt wait for them to arrive but the envelope was quite big and when I opened it there was the cutest little parcel of things!

Inside there were the cutest red buttons and a neatly wrapped little white package with a great postcard on top! It was like christmas yesterday lol. I got stickers, a great magnet, metal brads, those cute badges! the cutest little composition note book with my name on it and the loveliest little tag! You have no idea how much these gifts made my day, it was so nice after being so sick recently :)

Dream Interiors | Inspiration For Interior Decorating

Dream Interiors | Floral Love | White Airy Spaces

I reallllly want my bathroom windowsill to look like this! I cant get hold of vases ok... but id love to know all the different types of flowers!! Even if i get clear jars - i can get glass paint to tint it... even if that fails..... ebay or charity shop hoking.

Photobucket

Source - Believed to be Amy Nieto

I really love this windowsill and all of the flowers in it. I think the quantity of the vases along the windowsill really bring a lot of character to a small space and I would really love to add this type of character into my bathroom. I like the blue glass jars so I might attempt to paint a few jam jars :)

Source of this image is unknown
This image is stunning, i really love the colours of the sofa and the contrasting pink flowers. i really want them!

Source Unknown again, please contact and i will update with a link. I absolutely LOVE these colours.. so fresh, so bright and perfect for rooms that get flooded with natural light, unfortunately mine does not :(

This room above is my bedroom from the place i live at the moment, it has a very small sky light and gets the least amount of natural light in the house. I absolutely hate it!! BUT i am looking forward to a house that just floods natural light everywhere!!

I absolutely love this shelving for a kitchen also. Such a cute idea and so inspiring. I am tempted to create my own interior design style file but there are so many images it would end up being a giant book full of pictures and I would get confused! I might go over the decor8 blog and see one of her friends who makes style books properly... just so i can get my inspiration well under way!

I Made This | Art Journal Swap

Mosaic of Art Journal

Last night I was going through my iPhoto and trying to organise my photos between there and 'my pictures' and allll the albums of 'Untitled Folder' I have because i have a bad habbit of draggin photos off the net, onto my desktop... putting them in folders and abandonning them! Also applies to photos i have taken apparently!! This mosaic is of pages i created in an art journal for my swap buddy Ashley. Ash set up this stop last augustish to create an art journal.. full of inspiration and quotes and journal prompts.. I had taken photos before I sent it and totally forgot about them! Im really pleased with a lot of things i had in there and i took inspiration from donna downey, tara anderson and mixed media artists when i was making these. I really like the watercolour i did double page which you cant really see.. its a self portrait i painted last august with the Lyrics to a florence and the machine song. I love it cuz the day i finished it.. that night i first met my gorgeous bf. Sappy memory for you :p

I do have pictures of the journal Ashley sent me. God it was amazing and i felt so guilty cuz it was so jam packed of everything! I want to take better photos of it though.

Photo Love | Reasons Why I Hate Starbucks

Photo Love | BUT I hate the Starbucks

Source - Unfortunately through Tumblr

This is such a stunning photograph. Its so simple and beautiful but i was heart broken when i saw a peek of the starbucks logo.

"Before you continue that delicious drink Please read this short note.
That eco-friendly, arty, lefty appeal of Starbucks may have won you over,
but its really just make-up my friend.

Wake up and smell the coffee:
1- Starbucks farming techniques are unsustainable and damaging to the environment, the crops wipe out bio-diversity and the countries that they buy their coffee from (Guatemala, Indonesia etc) dont enforce any strong environmental regulations. So even if Starbucks release statements about their commitment to the ecology and dislike for chemicals, they are not carried out. This is not likely to improve with the WTO in its current state of slashing all hindrance to big business.

2- Starbucks actively discourage unions and workers rights, workers work part-time flexible shifts, meaning that they dont have the rights of full time employees, they can easily be replaced and dont get sick pay. Workers have no leg to stand on when asking for things such as a fair wage.

3- Starbucks strategy is to subsidise new stores in order to under cut and close down local competition, stores will be run at a loss purely in order to wipe out others. This destroys any local character an area may have, and bulldozes the way for even more bland multinationals.

4- Starbucks new "Commitments To Origins" PR stunt is really just that. Fair trade coffee has to be certified fair trade, with no certification it is meaningless. The "Commitments to Origins" scheme may look ethical and fair trade but it is not Fair Trade, it is Starbucks own version of fair trade which they monitor themselves, or appoint their own independent monitors for. The farmers still get a raw deal, it's just as unethical, but Starbucks get to pretend they are being responsible.
5 - Since this project was thought up Starbucks have bowed to public pressure and changed their policies, they do now stock SOME Official Fair Trade coffee. This is only TWO AND A HALF YEARS after it was made available in the US, the reason we were given for this delay was that there were problems with shipping it from the US. They did not however have any problems shipping tonnes of unfair trade coffee from the remotest parts of the world.
However lets not be angry at the multinational hoodlums, this shows that they do have to bow to public pressure, perhaps we can make them change the rest of the way they do business and the rest of their coffee to Fair Trade.
Im not trying to say that Starbucks are the only evil.
They are however the market leaders, and therefore the ones that others copy.
It is up to you to make sure that this type of behaviour is not profitable, you are currently supporting what they are doing, please think before your next drink.

Now enjoy the rest of your coffee
Im sure you paid enough for it."

This little Sew In Love feature started after i saw the beautiful little wooden box (first image) on Inspirational Elements . co . uk - full of stunning homewares. It had a very french feel to it and i fell in love. It also tied in pretty well with one of my Indie Biz classes - researching product images that I really liked to make a collage. Its difficult to find some really good images but so inspiring when you do!

All of these images are fabulous and I can only hope to create beautiful set ups for my product photos.
