Weekend DIY | Whirl It Lamp
I found THE most fabulous tutorial for a wall light from Pickles Blog... one problem for me... I cant deal with balloons!!
We really needed a new lamp, and we´ve planned to make one for months. This week we finally got around to it. It takes a bit of different materials, but it´s really easy when you´ve started. We recommend making it outdoors, as it gets quite messy. The result is pretty neat, especially at night when the threads cast shadow on the walls.
We planned to make the lamp using the yarn Garnstudio Ice, but it ran out really quickly, and we had to improvise by using a thinner yarn to complete it. Perhaps it happened for a reason - we really like the contrasts between the yarnquality and colours. Happy whirling!
What we used
One big, round balloon. We used really big one, but didn´t fill it completely. (You can get them from balloon-companies where you live, try Google...)
A pump to fill the balloon with
2 balls of Ice og 1 ball Lerke, or other yarn, preferably cotton or acryllic.
Vaseline
Water resistant marker
Wallpaper glue
An old box to mix the glue and the yarn in
Stick to mix the glue and the yarn
Gloves, if you don´t like it messy, we made it without...
Something to hang the lamp by. We used IKEAs ricelamp hanging device (bottom right), and cut the long bits off
Paper cloth
Wire with lightening bulb
How we did it
Gather all the materials.
Put the yarn into the glue and mix properly. Work the glue into the yarn without unveiling the ball.
Fill the balloon to a desireable size. Rub it in with a thin layer of vaseline.
Get your hanging device, and mark a circkle at the top of the balloon that´s 1 -2 cm smaller than the hanging device.
Hang it and start whirling.
Whild pretty tightly. Start oot vertically and work more and more horizontally. Make sure it get´s even. Make sure you stick to the circle you drew on top. Tuck the loose ends under the yarn at the top, and work the circkle when you´re done so it´s all even.
Leave it drying for 24 hours, we recommend that you take it inside to dry.
Pop the balloon and let there be light!
Neat?

Dream Interiors | Retro Turqouise and Red Kitchen
I am inlove... I know I keep posting swedish style loveliness.. but i see colour and I want!! Eventhough my living room is this colour lol its def my favourite :)
this kitchen is amazing... I saw it on House Of Turquoise Blog and Erin originally saw it on The Kitchn!

I love this trolley and a perfect little place for the dog bowl. I think this is a stunning little kitchen and I would love it in a house of my own.

I cant believe i'm only noticing this sink right now!
This kitchen table arrangement is adorable. I would love a turquoise Jar like this for my dining room, we have no natural light in there so I doubt there would be much impact!

I love all the details of this kitchen and I would love to see it at christmas!! I fall inlove with new interiors every day... This will probably end up being the type of kitchen I would end up having.. especially if it was considerably cheaper than any others.

RVA Summer Camp | Button Wreath
Ok so ive been catching up on summer camp projects..
Do you remember my Button Blooms i made? (I havent been able to view my comments on the original blog post! Stupid blogger errors.. heartbroken.)
Well... I used these as part of a wreath from Summer Camp.... and im really pleased with it!
The wreath took an entire ball of super chunky wool! And some spare white stuff I had by the bucketload but not much of the white obv... It took about two hours in total and the buttons had already been made! They were attached with florists wire straight into the oasis.
Im kinda disappointed with this RVA Class.. well not the Class Per Say... a few of the projects I had no interest in and a lot of the projects you can easily get free tutorials online.. The main reason I sign up to these classes is the amazing community spirit that comes with the classes, meeting new friends and the amazing detail the ladies go into.. especially Rachel from Smile and Wave.. she is a total inspiration and I love her creativity.. Leigh Ann had some great tutorials too but not as many as i had hoped! I still love what she did.. I am disappointed its over.. but the community spirit wasnt totally there. There werent that many people keeping up regularly with the class - Me being head of that pack! But that was totally to do with not that many people doing it either... I love the RVA guys and the classes are fabulous but I dont know how many I will be signing up to in the future as i cant justify it unless its the journal classes. On a scale of 1 to 10 i would give the tell your story class an 8 - I loved it! I enjoyed every minute of it and i kept up with it as much as i could but i would give camp a 4.

This was a page from a toast catalogue, i put it in with a white wash over the top.
Also a page from Toast.. I absolutely Loved it... looks like pure summer :)
So I started documenting from the end of June when my bf had to move out. Packing things!!
This was a mixture of pink tissue paper, crepe paper that i cut off a roll with a bread knife, lol some washi tape and July was cut out of a magazine.
A simple layout..,
My DIY Memo boards and decorating the hallway...Journalling about some gardening heartbreak :) I Ripped this out of a country living magazine.

Weekend DIY | Fabric Tape and Stickers
Welcome to the new feature!! As you know i have already posted many tutorials on the blog but i thought it was about time to organise my posts!! This weekend DIY Feature features DIY tutorials from many fabulous bloggers and some I make myself if i have the time!!
Todays DIY is for making your own fabric tape and stickers! Although you do need a few supplies..

"If you’ve ever bought something from me, you may have seen my package from me in the mail with fabric tape on the outside of the package. You may not know I don’t buy that anywhere, I make it myself! Here I’ll show you how. It’s super easy, I promise.

Supplies
- Ribbon, fabric strips, punched circles or other shapes
- Xyron sticker machine – 1.5″
- Extra refill for when you have too much fun and run out of the first roll
Total Cost – about $8 for the sticker machine to get started, then about $0.25/ft depending on the type of ribbon or other scraps you use. My WalMart sells the machines and refills in the craft section, so I just grab one every so often with groceries.

Cut strips of fabric or lengths of ribbon and feed them gently through the sticker machine, pulling the other end through to the left as shown below. For thin ribbons, do a couple at a time to make the most of your sticker tape.
Pull the end and tear off the tape.
Now, using a bone folder or other flat hard tool (the butt of a screwdriver or a ruler will work too), press and rub the top of the tape to secure the glue. You’ll need to press a little more for fabric and thicker ribbon, like the twill tape.
Peel off the top clear layer and you’re done! You can use lots of different things in your sticker machine. My favorite is twill ribbon, but I also like this double sided wrapping paperric rac is really quick and easy too. And you could even get some of my printable papers
and and cut strips or shapes from those to make stickers! In the photo below you’ll also see kraft circles. These were really popular in my shop but I got tired of making so many of them all the time. To make them yourself, just get some brown shipping paper from the office supply store and punch some circles and feed those through your sticker machine!

The great thing about the Xyron machine is that you can do a roll of tape as long as you need. The tape cartridges go to 20 feet! You can also get two kinds of tape – permanent and removable. The removable adhesive is better for kids in case they stick it somewhere they shouldn’t. I bought AJ a sticker machine and removable refills for her birthday last year and she loves them.

Now you can cut your tape into shapes if you like, and adhere to anything you like.
